Manchester I.M.P.S.
Manchester I.M.P.S. started in 2000. We cover approximately 80 schools in the Manchester City Council area and train around 2800-3000 children per year.
I.M.P.S. programme
Within the terms of our current funding we are only able to deliver the I.M.P.S. programme to Manchester City Council Schools.
Our I.M.P.S. sessions are run at Manchester Royal Infirmary, Booth Hall Children’s Hospital and Wythenshawe Hospital.
There is no cost, other than the transport. We currently have a waiting list.
Other programmes
I.M.P.S. is delivered as part of a city-wide injury minimization strategy. We have developed the following projects which complement, lead up to and on from I.M.P.S.
- ELFS for 3 to 5 year olds and their parents
- ORCS for 14 to 16 year olds.
We also support secondary school communities to affiliate to the British Heart Foundation’s Heartstart schools scheme.

Funding and donations
We are currently funded by Joint Health Unit (Neighbourhood Renewal Funding) at Manchester City Council until March 2008.
