Raising the Profile

United Kingdom Rescue Organisation

The Hull team have just taken part in a safety event as part of the United Kingdom Rescue Organisation (UKRO) The UKRO is a fast moving and dynamic charitable organisation, run entirely by volunteers committed to pushing vehicle extrication and other rescue disciplines to their professional pinnacle, whilst supporting the national agenda on road death reduction and improve survivability in all aspects of professional rescue. The UKRO rescue disciplines are as follows;

  • Vehicle Extrication
  • Trauma Management
  • Urban Search & Rescue
  • Rope Rescue
  • Water Rescue.

Humberside Fire & Rescue were this year’s hosts which coincides with the Hull 2017 City of Culture celebrations.

A public safety village was created at the KCOM Stadium for two days of the challenge and school children were invited along to spend time with Road Safety and Public Health teams.  I.M.P.S were invited to present a recovery position scenario – this was a great introduction to I.M.P.S for year 6 pupils that will be taking part in sessions over the coming months. The school children experienced hands on and immersive learning during the many and varied activities.
