When were you in year 6? | 1999 |
What do you do now? | I am a medic in the Royal Air Force based at its Tactical Medical Wing |
Did I.M.P.S. help to influence this in any way? | Yes, it was my first experience of learning the basics of first aid and how to use it in an emergency e.g Basic Life Support |
Have you ever used any I.M.P.S. skills? | Yes, no matter what level you operate at i.e Paramedic, Nurse, Doctor the fundamentals remain the same and it is important to do the basics properly. I have applied this to treating casualties in Afghanistan and in other situations around the world |
Does your job require you to use any risk management, injury prevention or first aid skills? | Yes, my primary experience as a medic is dealing with casualties from Point of Wounding which can be as little as seconds after the injury and stabilising them for further treatment down the chain if needed. |
Do you think your I.M.P.S. training has made a difference to you? | Yes, the I.M.P.S. training sparked my interest in treating trauma and also to remain calm and collected in chaotic situations. |
